Our Why

We live in a withdrawn world. Remote work and social echo chambers are scrubbing away life's human touch. But remember — real people make life meaningful. And when you open up to others, they open back to you. OpenMat honors great relationships by bringing real people together.

• Open Your World • All Are Welcome • Life is People • Open Your World • All Are Welcome • Life is People • Open Your World • All Are Welcome • Life is People

‘Open mat’ is when people of all origins come together to train at the local martial arts gym. Good vibes fill the air. These people often share food and drink after.

Julia is a graphic designer and printmaker from Austria. Her work is guided by a love for the beauty in imperfection and misregistration of print. She designs with a touch of nostalgia, and allows her digital designs freedom in how they translate in different forms. Julia is driven by exploration and experimentation, using bold colours with new and distinct techniques. The designer now runs an independent Berlin-based studio, DTAN Studio - which focuses on printmaking and design, specialising in Riso printing. Julia and Davis were the two masterminds behind our intro video's animations. Visit her website at https://juliaschimautz.com

Hey all, I'm Davis! I'm a professional Pixel Artist that primarily creates landscapes and illustrations. My goal as an artist is to create beautiful things that deeply connect with and inspire others. I always try to pour my own experiences and emotions into my creations to hopefully bring people to a different place, even if just for a moment. Aside from digital art, I enjoy things like TaeKwonDo, Piano, Fighting Games, Pokemon, and constantly listening to music. Julia and Davis were the two masterminds behind our intro video's animations. As a designer and developer working in both fields I often see the two disciplines struggling to communicate. I like being the link between design and development and finding that frictionless flow of communication.
